Not many people in their retirement years and in the midst of a pandemic decide to form a country/rock/pop/folk band consisting of retirees. But Mr B did just that. In March 2020, Mr B decided to combat boredom and isolation by dusting off his guitar and picking up where he left off years (and years) ago. The strumming was going well and he challenged his fingers and brain with chords he had never learned during his early days of playing. By fall, when the world finally began to open up again, he contacted another retired friend and karaoke singer--Mr T--and they began to perform together and post videos on Facebook. In the beginning of 2022, Mr B invited yet another retired friend--Blu, a talented guitarist--to join their group and they became a trio. According to Mr B, "Things were getting a bit more serious." The three guitarists practiced weekly in the comfort of Mr T's makeshift music studio aka his living room. In March, when Cat--another karaoke friend and a wannabe musician--found out about Mr B's budding guitar group, she begged them to let her join. To her surprise, they said yes. Says Mr B, "Having a female voice in the group would be a good thing." The band of three retirees and one "someday" retiree were now four strong. The group got down to business and played around with song lists and name calling. After a bit of deliberation, they decided to name their band after a street that ran through their creative zone. A couple of gigs were scheduled, and a friend and amateur photographer took band pics. Ready or not, the GREEN MEADOW Band was born!
